SearchNavigator is an AJAX Framework for incremental search.  It's built as an extension of MatchMaker for incremental search interfaces (sometimes called "auto suggest", "typeahead", "Web 2.0 search", "AJAX Search", or “Google suggest” interfaces).  SearchNavigator features:

  • Suggestions and search results from many millions of indexed records asynchronously updated in a drop-down layer as the user types a query.  Not just suggestions from a limited set of "most common search terms" like most of today's AJAX search UIs. 
  • Very fast for all large databases and other structured data (product and service catalogs, directories of people, companies and addresses, etc.): under 10ms with upwards of a 100 million yellow pages records for instance.
  • Robust error-tolerance using such MatchMaker features such as phonetics, fuzzy algorithms, edit distance, rankings and biasing, aliases and synonyms, taxonomies and categories.
  • AJAX implementation makes the integration with your existing web site no more than a line of additional JavaScript in the search input page.
  • Intuitive and satisfying enough to lead users deep into your site, and to products and content they didn't even know existed through regular search results browsing.
  • Simplifies the search by helping the user guess what the ideal query is without "back-and-forthing" between search input form and results pages.
  • Can even display images, ads, promos, special messages.
